CME Engineers, PLLC has an opportunity for an Electrical Engineer or Designer in our Melville, NY (Route 110 (located just north of Northern state Pkwy) and Sarasota, FL offices. This hire would participate in all facets of CAD/BIM activities for CME. Qualified candidates should have at least 2-4 years of Electrical Power, Lighting, and Fire Alarm design and/or CAD experience in commercial construction. Retirees welcome to apply.
Essential Duties and Tasks:
Work in close contact with the internal design team and contractors
Support the CME engineering team under the supervision of senior engineers
Design a wide variety of Building systems including the performance of load calculations, selection of systems, selection and sizing of equipment and sizing and routing of distribution systems
Create Electrical and Fire Alarm drawings utilizing 3D CAD software such as Revit
Have the aptitude and desire to develop short circuit studies using SKM Systems
Have the aptitude and desire to coordinate Electrical designs with other trades in 3D
Participate in and oversee QA/QC processes for your work and the work of others
Participate in construction administration and field investigation tasks
Participate in the processing of Submittals, RFI’s, Change Orders, Bulletins, Addenda and Record Drawings
Be willing to assist in the functional testing and commissioning of Electrical systems
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Possess a basic understanding of the proper applications of low and medium voltage power system distribution
Exhibit proficiency in MS Office software
Exhibit a proficiency in or a desire to obtain proficiency in SKM PTW Systems Analysis
Demonstrate an ability to develop Generator load calculations and demand modeling
Demonstrate an ability to use AutoCAD MEP and REVIT
Exhibit a thorough understanding of applicable building codes
Possess a Professional Engineer’s License or a Designer’s License, or possess the ability and desire to obtain such a license
Experience working on Healthcare, Commercial, Laboratory and other highly technical projects would be helpful
Field construction experience of building systems would be helpful
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Associate Degree in Electrical Design
Software design experience with AutoCAD and Load Modeling Software
8 or more years of relevant Electrical experience (design and/or construction)
Current PE license is preferred
LEED Accreditation desirable
Technical writing skills desirable
