Pediatric Clinical Geneticist Faculty Position Children's Miracle Network Endowed Chair in Pediatric Genetics UC Davis Children's Hospital School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics, Genomic Medicine Division
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of California, Davis is seeking to recruit a full-time academic clinical genetics faculty member to the Division of Genomic Medicine that comes with Children's Miracle Network (CMN) Endowed Chair. The endowment payout will support the CMN chair's efforts in expanding service, research, and teaching and further the mission of the Department of Pediatrics and the UC Davis Health campus. The initial term of the CMN Endowed Chair is for five years, with the option of reappointment per regularly established University procedures for endowed chair/professorship appointments (APM 191, UCD 191). The Division of Genomic Medicine is composed of 5 clinical faculty including 3 physician-scientists and 1 metabolic geneticist, 9 genetic counselors, 1 genetic counseling assistant, 1.2 metabolic nutritionists, a clinical research coordinator and several student volunteers. Specific areas of interest of the Division of Genomic Medicine include Autism and Neurodevelopmental genomics, Biochemical genetics/Newborn screening, Cardiovascular genomics, Craniofacial genetics, Connective tissue disorders, Lysosomal storage disorders, Ocular genomics, Precision genomics, Skeletal dysplasia and Tele Genomics.
Genomic Medicine is housed at the MIND Institute at the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California. The MIND Institute was founded in 1998 as a unique interdisciplinary research center where parents, community leaders, researchers, clinicians, and volunteers collaborate to study and manage autism spectrum disorders and other Neurodevelopmental disorders. The institute has major research efforts in Autism, Fragile X Syndrome, Chromosome 22q11.2 Deletion Syndrome, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and the RASopathies. This position is open at the Associate/Full Professor rank (commensurate with credentials) in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor or Clinical X Pediatrics series. The candidate will be expected to participate in clinical care, education, community engagement and research activities of the Department of Pediatrics and serve on departmental committees.
Additionally, it is expected that the Endowed Chair will conduct bench or translational research in molecular genetics, provide leadership and service in pediatric genetics and be fully engaged in activities of the Department of Pediatrics. He/she is expected to enhance the academic and intellectual life of the campus.
