The Center for Watershed Protection (the Center) is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Fulton, MD and is seeking a recent high school graduate or qualified student from an environmental studies program for a part-time internship position, June through August. The paid internship provides an opportunity for students in an environmental field to gain hands-on project work experience with a national non-profit organization, while further developing their skills and interests in the environmental field.

Internship Description:
The Center is looking for two qualified and motivated students to work as a team conducting field work in Chester County, PA. The successful applicant will be primarily responsible for collecting data on bridges and culverts using ArcGIS Online tools. There may be opportunity to get involved in other project work. The specific schedule, tasks and responsibilities will be discussed on an individual basis based on project needs and the education and skills of the student. The Intern position is a part-time position with compensation ranging from $18-20/hr based on location and experience.
Responsibilities:
Assist in field data collection for bridges and culverts in Chester County, PA
Post-processing of field data collected
Internal coordination on project progress
Qualifications:
Our minimum qualifications include:
Recent high school graduate or college student
Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
Ability to learn quickly, master new skills and work in a team environment
Interest and/or experience in one or more of the following: natural resource management, watershed management, water quality, flood control, and environmental compliance and permitting
Able to carry up to 15lbs, walk up to 5 miles per day, and work in all weather conditions
Able to sit for an extended period of time at computer
Driver’s license
Located close to Chester County, PA
Preferred qualifications include:
Demonstrated computer skills (e.g., GIS, data management applications)
