We are seeking a Director of Research to lead contract management initiatives that support the development and modernization of ASME standards. This role is crucial in ensuring research projects, service contracts, and standards-related products are effectively managed and delivered on time. The Director will also oversee key business relationships with government and private organizations, securing external funding to support research projects aligned with ASME’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise the management of contracts for research projects supporting ASME standards committees.
Oversee service contracts that facilitate committee and staff operations across the Standards & Engineering Services Business Unit.
Lead contract management for ASME standards and non-standards product development.
Secure and maintain partnerships with external organizations, including government agencies and industry leaders, to advance engineering research efforts.
Collaborate with internal ASME leadership to identify and secure funding for Standards & Engineering Services R&D projects.
Manage a team of at least two full-time project managers, overseeing hiring, performance evaluations, and work schedules.
Ensure compliance with ASME agreements, mitigating risks associated with contract execution.
A bachelor’s degree in engineering, a related science field, or equivalent experience is required, along with a proven track record in contract and project management. The ideal candidate will excel in building, securing, and maintaining both internal and external business relationships, ensuring adherence to established schedules and financial commitments.
Preferred qualifications include experience in codes and standards development.
This role offers the flexibility of a remote work arrangement, with occasional business travel as needed.

Annual base salary may vary based on geographic location. The New York metro salary range for this position is estimated to be between $140,000 - $160,000 per year.
