ABOUT THIS JOB
Position Specific Summary:
The Engineering Manager for the New Area Development Division of the City of Tucson’s Water Department manages and coordinates the review and acceptance of developer financed projects by effectively leading and supervising personnel. Applies Engineering Seal to Tucson Water Job Order Contract Plans for short main extensions. Ensures that developer financed projects comply with local, state and federal regulations. Administers the City of Tucson’s Water Service Area Policy.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Water Administrator. This position exercises supervision over division personnel.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides training, counseling, and mentoring to staff. Conducts employee reviews and approves bi-weekly payroll. Provides effective leadership and supervisory control of section staff. Ensures section staff has the necessary resources and guidance to ensure successful review of developer financed projects.
Supervises staff during the review of developer financed projects. Reviews plans for conformity to design standards and specifications.
Provides oversight and directly interfaces with consultants, contractors and the public. Accepts plans for the water department for substantial conformance with standard specifications and details and administers the City of Tucson’s Water Service Area Policy.
Applies Engineering Seal to Tucson Water Job Order Contract Plans for short main extensions.
