Job Overview
The Operations Manager at a manufacturing injection molding company is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day manufacturing, supply chain, and procurement related activities to ensure efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. The Operations Director also leads long term strategic initiatives that enhance productivity, streamline workflow, and support overall business growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Collaborate with the President and other functional areas (HR, Administrative, Sales/Marketing, Technical Manager) to develop and iterate operational strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
2. Oversees production planning, scheduling, and resource allocation in order to meet client demand and company objectives.
3. Implements and monitors key performance indicators related to company’s success (e.g. quality, quantity, delivery performance, material cost per unit, etc.)
4. Identify opportunities to optimize procurement/supplier relations, logistics, planning, and distribution through continuous improvement programs.
5. Overall responsibility for performance of manufacturing including safety, service, quality and cost. Expected to identify areas to improve margins, purchasing controls and procedures, operational efficiency and processes (waste, equipment uptime, manufacturing flexibility, etc.).
6. Manage operations within production, procurement, logistics, and maintenance.
7. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
Skills
1. Strong communication ability.
2. Experience with managing moderate volume multi-shift custom manufacturing.
3. Expertise leading an integrated supply chain (Procurement, Manufacturing, Warehousing, Planning & Logistics).
4. Thorough understanding of ERP planning, purchasing and execution as well as the leadership to help set strategies / processes to improve process, performance and efficiencies.
5. Ability to build agile/flexible supply chain organizations and processes from the ground up.
6. Hands-on experience driving results across safety, quality, cost, and service.
7. Deep expertise advanced operational excellence (Lean/TPM) and ability to implement
8. Experience leading and de-risking a global supply chain (including low-cost country sourcing).
9. Experience optimizing vendor relationships.
