Nature of Work:

• The City Engineer plans, directs, and evaluates all activities of the City's engineering program.
  • Supervises the divisional team.
  • Oversees the coordination, preparation, and execution, and completion of short- and long-range capital improvement plans, programs, budgets for streets.
  • Water, wastewater, and storm water distribution, collection, and storage systems; and assigned facilities.
  • Oversees the Engineering Division review of residential subdivision and commercial project plans and construction drawings during the subdivision platting and/or building permit review processes to ensure compliance with local, state, federal rules, standards, codes, and laws while also screening for traffic, parking, drainage, and right-of-way conflicts and issues.

Minimum Qualifications of Education and Experience: 

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• Must be licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Minnesota. Professional Engineers licensed in another state will be considered and will be required to become licensed in Minnesota if hired.
• Eight (8) years of public works, engineering, construction or equivalent experience with a minimum of four (4) years of supervisory experience.
