The starting pay for this position is a minimum of $103,646.40! This position is eligible for a hiring incentive of over $3,800.00, a relocation benefit and the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule.
The Iowa Department of Transportation is looking for a People Leader in the Creston, Iowa area to oversee the administration of construction contracts and project success. This position offers the flexibility of a hybrid work environment with a standard work schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:45AM - 4:30PM. The in-office requirement is to report to the Creston Resident Construction Engineer Office approximately 2 times a week depending on workload.
As a Resident Construction Engineer Manager, this position gets to administer and guide exciting and complex state highway and interstate projects while leading a knowledgeable team of seven through the alignment of our five Core Values; Safety First, People Matter, Customer Focused, Servant Leadership, and Integrity Without Exception, and our mission of Making Lives Better Through Transportation. As a People Leader in District 4, you will get to work in partnership with the District Construction Engineer and other designers and technical experts. You will use your expertise and knowledge to lead the Creston team in the daily operations of successful construction administration and completion through responsibilities such as:
- Administrating and supervising of construction contracts of designated construction office area
- Ensuring Contractors adhere to plans, specifications, and standards requirements
- Work with District Staff, Central Office Staff, Federal Highway Staff and Consultant Designers regarding construction project issues and practices
- Acting as a liaison with Iowa Department of Transportation staff, government officials, contractors, media, and the public
- Reviews methods and techniques used in construction and building trade fields, includes knowledge of plan, standard specifications, and special provisions of the employing agency

Licensure:
- Must possess an active Iowa professional engineering license through the Iowa Professional Licensing Bureau – Engineering and Land Surveying Examination Board OR within 5 months of hire, obtain an Iowa professional engineering license through the Iowa Professional Engineering Bureau – Engineering and Land Surveying Examination Board.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Iowa driver's license.
