The Metropolitan Council is the regional planning agency for the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area providing essential services to our region: transportation, wastewater treatment, growth and development of local communities, affordable housing programs, and regional park systems.
The Council’s Metropolitan Transportation Services division conducts planning for the regional transportation system that includes highways, transit, aviation, freight, and bicycle and pedestrian connections. The Metropolitan Council is the region’s federally designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). This position is eligible for hybrid (remote and onsite) teleworking.
This position manages transit, bicycle, and pedestrian system planning within the transportation planning department. Leads a team that conducts system studies, drafts regional plans, advises on funding solicitations, and coordinates with projects from external partners. Works in tandem with the policy-focused staff and the highway and Transportation Advisory Board planning staff.
Any of the following combinations of experience in multimodal transportation planning, programming, and policy development, and completed education in geography, urban planning, engineering, public policy, or related field:
Bachelor's degree or higher with six (6) years of experience, including three (3) years of project management, OR supervisory experience.
Associate degree with eight (8) years of experience, including three (3) years of project management, OR supervisory experience.
High school diploma/GED with ten (10) years of experience, including three (3) years of project management, OR supervisory experience.
