The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at the University of Massachusetts (https://bme.umass.edu) is embarking on a strategic hiring program enabled by additional investments from the UMass Institute for Applied Life Sciences (IALS) (https:www.umass.edu/ials). The BME Department is seeking candidates for multiple tenure-track faculty positions. While we are seeking talented applicants qualified for a tenure-track assistant professor position, under exceptional circumstances, highly qualified candidates at the associate professor rank may receive consideration. We are particularly interested in individuals who can contribute to the expansive domain of Biomedical Engineering in alignment with the department's and campus's research and teaching visions. Benefiting from the university's strong history of both intra- and inter-departmental collaboration, as well as partnerships with the UMass Chan Medical School, our department is on a rapid ascent. The projected start date for these roles is September 1, 2025.
The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering or related fields. The candidate must have the interest and ability to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, supervise graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, contribute significantly to the advancement of science and engineering, develop a nationally recognized program of sponsored research, and have a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
As a campus with an increasingly diverse student body, we are seeking candidates who can operate effectively in a diverse faculty and student community, and who value collegiality, collaboration, achievement, and integrity. We encourage applications from women, minorities, LGBTQIA+ and individuals with a commitment to mentor students from under-represented backgrounds within engineering. We are committed to helping all constituents reach their full potential, creating best-in-practice operations to support faculty scholarship, and fostering excellence in student experiences inside and outside our department.
Applications should be received by November 15, 2024, to ensure full consideration. Applicants should submit PDF files that include a Cover Letter, Research Statement, Teaching Statement, Statement of Contribution to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Curriculum Vitae, and Contact Information for three professional references.
