What a day in the life of the Director of Transportation would look like
You will oversee and mentor multiple Project Managers across various offices while managing and tracking the department's backlog. Your day will also include managing your own projects, client relationships, cultivating new business connections, and collaborating with the Business Development Team to identify IDOT PTB items to pursue.
Managing and designing current IDOT Phase I and II engineering projects as well as County and Municipal Transportation projects.
Interpret specifications and drawings, recommend and document design modifications, and coordinate with the design team.
Perform Quality Assurance/Quality Checks on all projects to uphold Chastain’s principle of superior service to all our clients.
What you will need to thrive in this role:
Education: A Bachelors degree in Engineering (Civil Engineering is preferred)
Experience: 15+ years of experience working on IDOT roadway and bridge design projects, and managing/mentoring civil engineering staff
Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) License in the state of Illinois or ability to obtain
Location: Decatur, Schaumburg, Rockford or Paris, IL - Hybrid schedule
Software skills: Microsoft 365 and Adobe (AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred)
Adaptability: excel at adapting to changing project requirements.
