Hydrogeologist (Groundwater Modeler)
Bureau of Groundwater Modeling and Assessment
Job Summary: This is advanced level engineering work designing, evaluating, and implementing groundwater flow models, developing calibration criteria, performing calibration and quantifying modeling results.
Job duties include:
Performs MODFLOW groundwater modeling and may serve as a project lead for the assigned projects.
Utilizes numerical groundwater models to support other programs including water supply planning, water use permitting, and minimum flows and levels.
Collaborates with staff on refinements and development of regional groundwater models. This includes preparing written documentation of simulation results, presentation of those results to project team members and clients, and mentoring staff in the use and application of modeling tools.
Attends training classes, seminars, and reviews current literature to stay abreast of the advances in the science of hydrology and hydrogeology; provides guidance to other hydrologists in area of special knowledge and expertise. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in environmental, civil, hydraulic, agricultural or
water resource engineering, six years of experience directly related to the field in which the position is
assigned.
An advanced degree may substitute for a portion of the required experience.
Professional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment:
Mostly office environment sitting at a desk and operating a personal computer to produce work products with some field visits as required.
Periodic field visits:
Applicant must have ability to endure outdoor environments in uncomfortable temperatures, inclement weather, and remote locations.
Licenses:
Requires a valid Florida driver license or obtain within six months of employment.
Travel:
Requires travel to attend off-site meetings, sometimes outside of normal business hours including overnight. Ability to drive oneself to and from meetings.

Starting Salary Range: $70,803.20 - $92,040.00
