The Utility Director oversees the electric distribution system, the sewer collection system, the water distribution system, and the utility billing office. This position requires professional, technical and administrative work in the management of a variety of municipal utilities projects related to the above mentioned utilities and environmental protection programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Oversees the design, installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of the Utility systems.
Review and approve plans submitted by developer and contractors as to the impact on the utility systems, prepares and reviews capital and operating budgets.
Prepare and file reports required by state and federal agencies.
Directs operation, installation, maintenance and updates of SCADA systems for electric and water systems.
Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of department personnel.
Manages approximately 27 field and billing employees in combined departments.
Perform duties in a safe manner; report any potential safety hazards to staff.
Perform any reasonable, temporarily assigned job duties outside the position’s job description, where, in the City’s judgment, those duties are necessary in the interest of efficiency, productivity or guest service.
Receive and follow verbal and written orders from the Mayor, as well as all other duties as assigned.
Must be a diplomat and advocate for the City and Utilities as a whole.
Will work side by side with the Mayor and the Administration to lead the utility for the benefit of the rate payers.

Associate or bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Leadership and Utility management experience required.
Engineering training/experience preferred.
Strong organizational skills along with excellent oral & written communication ability.
Experience in all three utilities is expected, strong experience in electric public power is preferred.

Lawrenceburg Municipal Utilities is owned and operated as an integral part of the municipal structure. Providing electric, water and waste water services, it has served the Lawrenceburg community for many decades.
The electric department was established in 1901. Lawrenceburg’s electric provision is a full-service distribution company. In 1931, Lawrenceburg purchased a privately-owned water and waste water company.
