Postdoctoral Research ScholarPosition in Plant Cell Biology
A postdoctoral research scholar position is available immediately in the Department of Plant and Microbial Biology at North Carolina State University. The position is funded by an NSF collaborative grant. The main responsibility of this position is to optimize and increase the application of E3 DART, a plant-compatible degron tool for inactivation of protein targets in plants (see Huang and Rojas-Pierce, 2024, Plant Cell). This system will enable the characterization of plant essential proteins even for studies of highly dynamic processes such as endomembrane trafficking.
NCSU has state-of the art facilities for microscopy, proteomics and plant growth and a vibrant community of plant scientists spanning from the fundamental to the applied. We are located at the Research Triangle Park with ties to local plant biotech companies.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in plant biology, molecular biology, genetics, or a related discipline. Experience in plant genetics, protein biochemistry, molecular cloning, plant transformation and light microscopy are essential. Evidence of research productivity in the form of high impact publications are important and documented experience with confocal microscopy in plants is highly desirable. The successful candidate should be extremely productive, able to work independently and highly motivated.
