The City of Elk Grove is seeking a highly motivated, problem-solving, and well-organized professional to serve as our next Traffic Engineering Manager (Public Works Division Manager – Engineering). This is a key leadership position within the Department of Public Works, responsible for managing the Traffic Engineering Division and a range of associated programs and services.

The ideal candidate is an experienced and forward-thinking traffic engineer who is passionate about mentorship and staff development. They will foster a team environment focused on growing technical expertise in critical areas such as traffic modeling, VMT analysis, and emerging transportation strategies. The Manager performs advanced and complex technical engineering work, provides technical direction and solutions, and ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. The successful candidate will also be skilled at program development and leading teams with a focus on efficiency, innovation, and long-term impact.

The Traffic Engineering Manager reports directly to the Deputy Director of Public Works – Engineering and currently supervises four full-time staff, one part-time intern, and multiple consultant contracts. Staying abreast of new trends, innovative technologies, and relevant emerging products in addition to proven solutions, is a key role of the Traffic Engineering Manager.
