We are seeking a highly experienced NICET Level IV Fire Alarm Engineer to lead the design, analysis, testing, and commissioning of complex fire alarm and life safety systems. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise, code compliance knowledge, and the ability to manage projects from concept through completion. This is a senior-level position that involves mentoring junior engineers, interfacing with AHJs, and ensuring all systems meet NFPA, local, and state requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
Design and engineer complex fire alarm and life safety systems for commercial, industrial, and government facilities.
Prepare and review detailed fire alarm drawings, wiring diagrams, voltage drop calculations, battery calculations, and point-to-point wiring.
Ensure designs are compliant with NFPA 72, NFPA 70 (NEC), local codes, and AHJ requirements.
Lead or support permitting, submittal, and commissioning processes.
Interface with clients, contractors, project managers, and AHJs to coordinate designs and resolve issues.
Perform site visits for field surveys, system testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
Review and seal engineering drawings where applicable.
Manage and mentor junior engineering and design staff.
Stay current with industry codes, standards, technologies, and trends.
Required Qualifications:
NICET Level IV Certification in Fire Alarm Systems (required)
10+ years of experience in fire alarm system design and engineering
Strong knowledge of fire alarm codes and standards (NFPA 72, NFPA 70, IBC, IFC)
Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit), and fire alarm modeling tools
Familiarity with major fire alarm system manufacturers (e.g., Notifier, Siemens, Edwards, Simplex, EST)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to lead technical teams and provide mentorship
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or related field
PE license (Fire Protection or Electrical Engineering)
Experience working with federal, healthcare, or mission-critical facilities
Knowledge of mass notification and voice evacuation systems
Experience with BIM workflows and coordination

Ability to conduct on-site inspections in buildings under construction or renovation
