This position exists to contribute to transportation planning studies and research activities for MnDOT’s District 8. This position leads/supports planning and programming for transportation studies to further state and regional transportation goals and priorities, develop integrated transportation plans, studies, and investment programs; coordinate with and participate in state, regional and local planning efforts; and prepare and implement public involvement processes. This position defines scope, objectives, risk and analysis in the preparation of statewide, district, modal, system, corridor, and project plans and studies, as well as in the implementation and monitoring of investments in the District 8 portion of MnDOT’s 4-year Minnesota State Transportation Improvement Program and 10-year Capital Highway Investment Plan; and to ensure integration and consistency with Department and District investment goals and direction with consideration to stakeholder and public input and feedback.
This position may be in Willmar, Hutchinson, or Marshall. It may have the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule, or work in the office.
Planner Principal Transportation Minimum Qualifications:
Two years of advanced professional transportation planning experience (e.g., Planner Senior Transportation experience or higher).
Three (3) years of professional level transportation planning experience (e.g., Planner experience or higher).
*NOTE: A Bachelor's or master’s degree in Planning, Geography, Urban Studies, Sociology, Political Science substitutes for six months of advanced professional experience or one (1) year of professional experience).
