Salary: $109,570 Annually, negotiable depending on qualifications

Other: Valid Florida Driver’s License and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment.
Will be required to pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) background check in addition to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office background check prior to appointment.
THIS IS AN AT-WILL POSITION.
Performs administrative and professional engineering/architectural work on a wide variety of engineering/architectural projects. Responsible for supervising, planning, and coordinating a large number of construction-related projects from inception to completion, including work associated with contract administration, contract compliance, and coordination with other County divisions and governmental entities as well as with consultants and contractors. Supervises staff, provides technical expertise, leadership, and guidance to other staff to ensure the successful delivery of projects within budget and schedule. Work is complex and requires independent judgment and decision-making, which directly affects all aspects of construction projects and impacts available project funding. Employee will act as the owners representative for activities related to the Capital Improvements Program, including design phase review and coordination, permitting, bidding, traditional project management (i.e. budget adherence, schedule monitoring, coordination, contract monitoring, contract change negotiations, fee negotiations, site observation/review and project close-out). Review of work is based on accomplishment of projects with emphasis on adherence to deadlines and team effectiveness.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Florida ORBachelor’s Degree in Structural/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or related field; minimum of eight (8) years of experience in professional engineering work specific to vertical building construction projects that includes two (2) years of experience in the supervisory aspects of the work.
Necessary Special Requirement: Licensed as a P.E. in the State of Florida or licensed as a P.E. in another state and must obtain State of Florida P.E. licensure within 11 months of hire.
PREFERENCE: Ten (10) or more years of project management experience in medium and large-scale civic/governmental projects; Licensed P.E. in the State of Florida or currently licensed in another state with the ability to be licensed in Florida; Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification; Master’s Degree in Engineering or related field; more than two (2) years of supervisory experience.
